الجامعة الامريكية تشارك بمؤتمر عالمي في ذكرى وفاة المفكر الفلسطيني ادوارد سعيد
مدار نيوز: شاركت الجامعة العربية الأمريكية في مؤتمر عالمي في شنغهاي في الصين بمناسبة مرور 15 عاما على وفاة المفكر الفلسطيني ادوارد سعيد وعلى مرور أربعين سنة على كتابه الشهير “الاستشراق”.
حيث شاركت الدكتورة / ناهد حبيب الله من كلية الدراسات العليا ببحث تحت عنوان ” الهوية القومية في مرحلة ما بعد الإستشراق ” تحدثت فيها عن إنخراط الدول في مشروع العولمة. وتقسيم الدول إلى منتج للمعرفة ومستهلك للمعرفة. كما شاركت طالبة برنامج الماجستير في التواصل بين الثقافات / اناستازيا قراواني في بحث تحت عنوان ” الإستشراق الجديد ومنظمات العمل غير الحكومية والإمبريالية الجديدة” تحدثت فيه عن دور منظمات العمل غير الحكومية في تغيير البنية السياسية والاجتماعية لمجتمعات دول العالم الثالث.
University took part in the international conference
on the anniversary of Edward Said’s passing
The Arab American University took part in the international conference “Orientalism, Neo-Orientalism and Post-Orientalism in African, Middle East, Latin American, Asian/Chinese Studies” which was held at the University of Shanghai – China, on the 15th anniversary of Edward Said’s passing and the 40th anniversary for the publication of his infamous book “Orientalism.”
Dr. Nahed Habiballah presented a paper “National Identity and Post-Orientalism” in which she distinguishes between two types of nation-states in relation to their integration into the global world in an era of Globalization. Those nation-states are defined by their roles as either “producers” or “consumers” of knowledge.
Anastasia Qarawani,a graduate student in the Intercultural communication program ,presented a paper “Neo Orientalism, NGOs’ Imperialism and Western NGOs’ Representation of Palestine,”where she spoke on the role of international NGOs in manipulating the political and social structures of Third World countries.
